When and How to Plan A 2021 Destination Wedding During a Pandemic

Are you recently engaged and now find yourself wondering how you can begin planning a destination wedding while half the country is back in lockdown due to the pandemic? Now is the time to celebrate your engagement and look forward to your happily ever after so how can you begin planning one of the most important events of your life? I am of firm belief that with all that is going on in the world today, everyone will need social celebration more than ever. So here is what you can do:

  1. Start By Picking Your Wedding Date - Due to the many couples who have had to postpone their wedding dates in 2020, there will be many venues and resorts who will be sold out for certain dates. It is best to choose a month or a date range that you are willing to work with so you have a better chance at nabbing the perfect destination wedding location. Keep an open mind and have a few back up dates at the very least. I have heard many people advising couples to wait it out, but this could mean choosing an entirely different season or year to say I Do.

  2. Hire a Destination Wedding Specialist - I cannot express how important this is after all that couples have experienced when the weddings they have been planning for a year to 18 months were upended by this pandemic. Myself along with colleagues and friends in this industry have worked countless hours negotiating new contracts on behalf of wedding couples and the relationships that industry professionals have with vendors that can work miracles for our clients. There are many reasons you should hire a destination wedding specialist, but for the purpose of this post, I will speak to the benefits during a time like this.

  3. Stay Focused on the Future and Your Celebration - This pandemic is temporary and the world will return post Covid. When it does, the destinations and resorts will be even better at providing safe and clean services. Your celebration may just be a moment in time, but that moment will be remembered by your guests as the time they reunited and celebrated love after the pandemic.
